Highlights of 1994: 

February 14: Ukraine – Andrei Chikatilo, the “Forest Strip Vampire”, a serial killer convicted of 52 murders, is executed. 16 months after his conviction and unsuccessful appeal, he is executed by a shot to the back of the head, on 14th February 1994. (Article)

Theatres_des_Vampires_LiveRome, Italy – Formation of “Theatres des Vampires”, an Italian extreme gothic metal band with strong symphonic black metal influences, mostly noted for the predominant theme of vampirism within their lyrics. (Article)

November: Austin, Texas, USA – The Vampire Church is founded by Damien Daville as an un-affiliated religious institution or belief group, and a research organization on bio energy vampirism. It officially starts as an offline group in 1994, but moves online with its first website and discussion group in 1995. (Source – Damien Daville)

InterviewwithaVampireMoviePosteNovember 11: USA – The film version of Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” opens with Tom Cruise as the Vampire Lestat and Brad Pitt as Louis. TV talk show superstar and multi-millionaire personality, Oprah Winfrey, forms a “prayer circle” outside the premiere to work against the forces of darkness she believes the film is calling down. Others are appalled by the casting of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, but probably not as much as Pitt, who later refuses to work with Cruise again, frustrating future attempts at making sequels to the movie. December: Indonesia – The 18-month killing spree of Siswanto, aka Robot Gedek, a homeless Indonesian man, begins in December 1994. His 12 victims are all boys between the ages of 9 and 15. He confesses to sexually molesting his victims before murdering them and tells police he enjoyed drinking his victims’ blood and that he sometimes kept pieces of their skin. His last victim is found on July 5th 1996. On the 6th of August he confesses to his crimes. On the 21st May 1997, an Indonesian court sentenced him to death.
